What is fire damage restoration? Fire damage restoration is the process of restoring fire and smoke-damaged property to its pre-incident condition. Due to the nature of fire damage, fire restoration and repair can take anywhere from months to years to complete. Smoke and water can both destroy furniture, insulation, drywall, carpeting, electrical systems, and other essential building materials.

The first step of the fire damage restoration process is to remove any items that are highly porous such as carpets, pillows, or mattresses. These items will keep a majority of the smoke and soot trapped in them. Once these items are removed, dehumidification must begin in order to remove any excess moisture from the home.

If your home has sustained water damage from firefighting efforts, it is important to remove any items that can be repaired and to begin to dry out the home. A professional restoration company will have the necessary equipment in order to dry your home properly.

Often after a fire, power will be turned off to a home. In order to operate any drying equipment, temporary power must be routed to a home. Contact your local city electric provider in order to set up a temporary power pole (restoration professionals can also provide a generator, if necessary).

Full-Service Fire Damage Restoration

Any items in a home that can be salvaged after a fire may need further cleaning in order to be used again. This process may be heavy hand-cleaning or–in the case of textiles such as clothes, linens, drapes, etc.--professional cleaning from our specialized Esporta wash system. These methods help to clean and preserve items that many families do not want to replace, or feel can be saved through cleaning. Deodorizing of some items such as fabric furniture pieces may also be required during this process.
